Fragmentary Portraits I

“To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.” Henri Bergson

This series of silkscreened, embroidered pieces is of a female body over time: in its halcyon days, full of bodily self-confidence and allure, and later with the signs of aging mapped on it: broken capillaries, cellulite, stretch marks. Fiber is a fortuitous choice for depicting the fragility of the flesh, as thread (like flesh) stretches, puckers, twists, tears and breaks.
